Here at JKM, our favorite way to add a personal touch to wedding favors is through unique wrapping. There are many ways to creatively wrap wedding favors, including organdy circles, gift bags, and decorative ribbons. Organdy circles come in a variety of types and colors, creating the perfect unique wrapping for your favors. Choose from fine mesh patterns, teddy bear trim, and an extensive variety of colors for each style. Woven Wrapping:

We love this innovative way to dress up ordinary gift-wrapping. Start off with a variation of ribbon types and colors. We recommend alternating ribbon width and texture, but coordinating color for an overall pulled together aesthetic. Start by placing ribbons across gift-wrapping vertically. Use double sided tape to secure ribbon ends beneath gift box. Next, weave ribbon horizontally across the gift box. Make sure to alternate your ribbons during weaving for a more dynamic effect. Keep ribbon weave simple for a sharp aesthetic finish.  For this project, we recommend Offray Satin Ribbon, Offray Grosgrain Ribbon, or Offray Whispy Monofilament-Edge Ribbon. Mix and match your own to create a new style, but either way be ready to impress with the best dressed gift at the party!

Layered Wrapping Paper:

This gift-wrapping technique is easy to reproduce, and provides endless ways to creatively mix and match wrapping paper and ribbon. In order to create this technique, wrap gift box normally with one layer of wrapping paper. Cut a thick strip of an alternate paper, and loop around gift box. With this technique, you can create a simplistic design, or use more wrapping paper layers for a dynamic effect. Next, tie a ribbon around the box, in line with the wrapping paper layers. Add a small bow or gift wrapping accessory as shown in the photo above, or simply tie the ribbon for a classic finish. Several layers of ribbon can be added, feel free to mix and match for a unique design. This is a fun and easy wrapping technique, and can be customized to match any theme or party!

Patriotic Ribbon Topiary:

This ribbon topiary makes for a great centerpiece or outdoor decoration. Plant the topiary in a clay pot or hang as an outdoor ornament – the possibilities are endless!

Supplies:

• Large Styrofoam Ball
• Americana Ribbon (variety)
• Straight Pins
• Wooden Dowel
• Planter Pot (optional)

Cut ribbons into small sections, approximately 4 inches long. Loop ribbon into a circle so that the ends slightly overlap. Use a straight pin to pin through the overlapping ends. Pin the ribbon loop into the styrofoam ball, alternating and overlapping various ribbons to create textured effect. To ‘plant’ your topiary, insert the wooden dowel and place in clay pot or ground. You can also get creative and use your topiary piece as a hanging ornament. Attach a long piece of ribbon to the styrofoam ball and hang it for decoration!

Fourth of July Ribbon Wand:

This is a fun project for kids and a great alternative for sparklers during a Fourth of July celebration.

Supplies:

• Wooden Dowel
• Patriotic Adhesive Wrapping Paper
• Americana Ribbon (variety)
• Small Eye Bolt

Measure the length of your wooden dowel. Cut section of adhesive wrapping paper in order to fully cover wooden dowel. Next, screw small eye bolt into the top of your wooden dowel. This will be used to secure ribbon. Next, cut the ribbon into pieces. You can cut smaller pieces to resemble a ‘sparkler’ or longer ribbons for more of a ribbon dancer effect. You can even cut different lengths to create a textured aesthetic! However, cut ribbon twice as long as you want the final length to be. After cutting all the pieces, line up your ribbons evenly. Loop through the eye bolt and tie in a knot to secure. Congrats, now you have a fun and safe alternative for Fourth of July celebrations!

This is a great idea for kids, and a gift that Dad will especially appreciate. Follow these simple instructions below to create ribbon-wrapped cookies.  All you need is cupcake wrappers, a piece of cellophane wrap, ribbon, and cookie ingredients. A nice touch would be to add a personalized note to the wrapped cookies, or you can include a separate card. Bake Dad’s favorite cookies, or mix and match batches! After cookies have cooled, layer cookies in cupcake wrapper. Take tissue and tie with a satin or grosgrain ribbon. Attach note, and you have a great gift for the number one dad!

Handmade Father’s Day Cards:

Our favorite types of cards are made with ribbon, because there are so many creative possibilities as well as the opportunity to add your own personal touch.  Homemade cards are easy to make, all you need is decorative card stock, ribbon, scissors, glue or double-sided tape, and a Father’s Day sentiment for the front of the card. Mix and match decorative cardstock, creating a layered design for the card front. Use ribbon to tie together the design. We recommend using sturdy double-sided photo tape to secure all the elements on your card, as glue can create unsightly visible lines. Double-sided tape ensures that all pieces of your card lay smooth, creating the ultimate sentiment for Dad. For ribbon recommendations, we advise using satin ribbon or grosgrain ribbon.

Simple to make, these Father’s day gifts come right from the heart. Dad is guaranteed to appreciate a custom-made card, or his favorite batch of cookies. Ribbon adds a simple, but elegant touch to these thoughtful gifts. Happy gift giving!

Supplies:

• 2 yards Jacquard or Grosgrain, Ribbon (or two 1-yard pieces of different ribbons)
• 2 1-Inch D Rings
• Matching Thread
• Sewing Machine

Single Ribbon Belt Instructions:

1. Fold ribbon in half and place D rings at the center of the fold. This will create a belt that is one yard in length.
2. Start sewing at top of belt to secure D rings, and continue sewing entire perimeter of ribbon. Backstitch, sew, and pivot at ribbon’s edge.
3. Once you have sewn together an entire length of the ribbon, fold down remaining edges, pivot, and continue sewing over edges and up the opposite long side of ribbon.
4. Match belt with a summer outfit, and interweave ribbon through D rings to secure! 

Double Ribbon Belt Instructions:

1. Choose two matching (or contrasting!) pieces of ribbon to create your belt. Align ribbons together, and sew both pieces together at ribbon’s short end with a straight line.
2. Flip ribbon inside out, so that seam will rest against D rings. Place D rings in fold at the seam. Follow instructions for Single Ribbon Belt, and begin sewing around perimeter to enclose D rings.
3. Continue to sew around perimeter, until you reach the opposite short edge of the ribbon. Tuck under rough edges and continue to sew around perimeter until belt is complete!
